Problem Finders - Developing the Next Generation of Leaders
Problem finding is the most neglected aspect of skills building in education. In most cases the student experiences problem solving for the first time when he or she is required to write a thesis. Even when they are taught, most are taught to find and solve problems solely for assesement or examination purposes only. How many are taught to even look beyond a problem? Welcome to problemfinders, where we present a framework for teachers to develop learning programs that develops long term problem finding skills among students.
Problem finding means problem discovery. It is part of the larger problem process that includes problem shaping and problem solving. Problem finding requires intellectual vision and insight into what is missing. This involves the application of creativity. It requires Higher Order Thinking.
